Paws & Relax: Levi -- Friday June 12th, 2026

This week's edition of Paws & Relax features our handsome boy, Levi, who recently got to enjoy a week-long foster vacation!

We're happy to report that Levi was the perfect houseguest. From day one, he settled right into family life and showed everyone that he's already mastered the household rulebook. No reminders needed!

Levi also spent time with two young children and did wonderfully. He was gentle, patient, and happy to be part of all the daily activities. Whether it was family time, playtime, or downtime, Levi was right there in the middle of it all.

And speaking of downtime... Levi has a special talent when it comes to couch lounging. He firmly believes that every couch should have room for a dog—even when there clearly isn't any! Somehow, he always managed to squeeze himself into the perfect snuggle spot and make himself comfortable. Personal space? That's just a suggestion when Levi is around.

His foster family quickly discovered what we already knew: Levi is a sweet, loving boy who enjoys being close to his people and soaking up all the affection he can get.

This foster stay gave Levi another chance to shine and show just how ready he is for a forever home. If you're looking for a loyal companion who follows the rules, loves kids, and doubles as a professional snuggle expert, Levi may be your perfect match.

Until next time, keep your paws up and relax!

heartLevi gives his foster vacation two paws up and would gladly accept another couch to test in his future forever home!

BREAKING NEWS: Little Mama Has 8 Puppies! -- Thursday June 11th, 2026

We are thrilled to share that Little Mama, the dog who has been seen around the Calhoun Outlet Mall area, is finally SAFE — and she surprised us with eight beautiful puppies!

A huge thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteers, Jonny and Katie, for setting up and monitoring the live trap, and to City of Calhoun Animal Control Director Codi for taking the time to help locate and secure Mama. Teamwork truly made this rescue possible.

Little Mama and her puppies are currently receiving care at Gordon Animal Hospital thanks to an incredibly generous sponsor. Their donation will help cover the first few days of care, but we now need to develop a long-term plan to ensure this sweet family gets everything they need.

We arrived at the hospital just before closing, so we'll have more information and updates to share tomorrow morning.

For now, we're celebrating a successful rescue and the safety of one very special mama and her eight precious puppies.

Afternoon with Paw-Pups: Becca -- Friday May 29th, 2026

Becca had such a fun day at the library! She loved being around all the kids and happily laid nearby watching them play. She was incredibly sweet to everyone she met and stayed calm, well-mannered, and polite the entire time she was out and about.

She enjoyed all the attention, gentle pets, and getting to soak in a new environment. Becca truly has the sweetest personality and handled every moment like a pro. She would make such a wonderful companion for a family looking for a loving, easygoing dog to bring along on adventures and everyday outings.

Ruger -- Wednesday May 27th, 2026

RUGER — whose red blood cell count and hematocrit levels were so dangerously low that the vet could hardly believe he was still alive — is finally starting to bounce back!!!

We still do not know what caused this sudden crash. Tick-borne diseases came back negative, and he is now being tested for lead poisoning as we continue searching for answers.

Months ago, we stepped in to save Ruger when he was fighting for his life battling coccidia. Then on Sunday, we were asked to help him again after he suddenly became unable to stand, lethargic, stopped eating, and had dark urine. The symptoms were unusual and didn’t immediately point to one clear cause.

Yesterday’s bloodwork showed beyond life-threatening anemia. The vet said she had never seen numbers that low in any patient she has ever treated. Without an immediate blood transfusion, there is no doubt Ruger would have died.

Our incredible friends at Animal Care Center of Ooltewah immediately jumped into action, quickly finding a donor dog and gathering transfusion supplies. And rescue rock star James didn’t hesitate for a second. When he heard, “The puppy will die,” his response was simply, “I’m on my way.” He drove from Rome to pick Ruger up from East Rome Animal Clinic and rushed him to Ooltewah, TN for the transfusion.

And somehow, in true rescue fashion, everything aligned exactly when it needed to. Our rescue friend Lindsey had the donor dog ready, and they were able to begin Ruger’s transfusion immediately.

It truly takes a village, and Ruger is alive today because people came together without hesitation to save him. Please continue praying for this sweet boy as we work to find answers and help him fully recover.

Puppy Deworming Importance -- Thursday May 7th, 2026

Parvo is not the only thing killing puppies. Parasites and worm overload can take their lives too — and far too many puppies suffer simply because they were never properly dewormed.

When you see puppies being given away — free or with a fee — PLEASE ask if they’ve been dewormed and vaccinated. Not only is that puppy at risk, but every dog in your home could also be exposed.

Puppies MUST be dewormed and vaccinated early. Worms steal nutrients, cause severe dehydration, anemia, bloody diarrhea, and can even block a puppy from being able to poop at all. This little guy was rushed to the vet first thing this morning after becoming critically ill overnight. One of his littermates was also suffering terribly with bloody mucus stool.

ALL OF THIS WAS PREVENTABLE.

Deworming is affordable, easy, and lifesaving. Safeguard from Tractor Supply is a great reasonably priced option many people use. There is no excuse to ignore basic puppy care when lives are depending on us.

Please do better for these babies. Their lives are in our hands.

Welcome Porsche -- Wednesday April 29th, 2026

Welcome to the Paw Angels family, Porsche. This sweet girl was found as a stray, dragging herself along, and is now safe in our care. She’s paralyzed from the waist down, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit. Porsche is full of spunk and personality—she loves taking in everything around her and zipping around the yard, living life to the fullest.

Stay tuned for more updates on her progress and her latest adventures.

Recycling Event -- Monday April 27th, 2026

Thank you to everyone who donated at the Calhoun recycling event—it was a huge success! We received food, rugs, dog beds, and toys, and we are so incredibly grateful for your support. A special thank you to the wonderful ladies who ran the booth, and to Angie for picking everything up and delivering it to us. We truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Afternoon with Paw-Pups: Harley -- Friday April 24th, 2026

Harley’s library visit was a total success—and clearly, his secret mission training paid off! From the moment he arrived, he turned on the charm, greeting the ladies like a true gentleman and happily soaking up all the hugs and kisses.

We made our way to the teen section where Harley hung out for an activity, quickly gathering a little fan club of his own. He was incredibly sweet with all the kids, making the day extra special for everyone he met. Safe to say, Agent Harley understood the assignment!

3 Sets of Wings Returned -- Monday April 20th, 2026

With heavy hearts, we are saddened to share the passing of three of our dogs over the past month. Each of them was a hospice dog, facing different forms of cancer, yet still full of love. We made sure every one of them was surrounded with care, comfort, and compassion until the very end.

First was Luke. He came to us from Miami and was both human and dog reactive, but he held a very special place in our hearts—especially with our director, Hollie. She was the only one able to walk him and truly connect with him, and the bond they shared was something truly special.

Second was Crystal, who had been in foster with us since we rescued her from Animal Control. She battled mast cell cancer and an enlarged heart. Crystal passed away peacefully in her foster home, surrounded by her loving foster mom and siblings who cared for her so deeply and gave her the best life possible.

Third was Athens, who passed away on Saturday, April 18th. Though we only had him for a few months, he was deeply loved. Athens had tumors throughout his body, which we had removed, but sadly they returned. He spent his final days in a wonderful foster home with an incredible foster mom and two young boys who adored him. He also shared a special bond with his cat sibling, often napping side by side.

We are grieving deeply alongside the foster families and our staff who loved each of these dogs as their own. They will always hold a place in our hearts.

EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Agent Harley Completes Specialized Training at Three Tails -- Friday March 27th, 2026

There’s another exciting update in the ongoing story of Agent Harley, the black lab mix on a very important secret mission.

As part of his advanced training, Harley was selected to attend a specialized program at Three Tails Dog Boarding — a trusted facility known for helping dogs sharpen their skills and build confidence in real-world environments.

During his time embedded with the Three Tails team, Harley focused on key mission objectives:

  • Strengthening social skills with new people
  • Practicing calm, confident behavior in a structured setting
  • Continuing his obedience and good boy training
  • Learning routines that will help him thrive in a home

Sources inside the program report that Harley was an excellent trainee. He adapted quickly, showed off his intelligence, and proved once again that he’s not just on a mission — he’s excelling at it.

Handlers noted his easygoing personality and willingness to learn, making him a standout participant in the program. Whether he was relaxing, observing, or practicing his skills, Harley approached every moment like a true professional.

This mission update also comes with a heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Three Tails Dog Boarding for taking the time to work with Harley, guide him, and help prepare him for his next big step.

Because of their support, Agent Harley is now even more ready for his ultimate assignment:
Finding a foster or forever home

With his growing list of skills and loving personality, Harley is fully prepared to bring joy, loyalty, and a little bit of undercover charm to the lucky family who takes him in.

MISSION UPDATE: Agent Harley Continues His Training -- Tuesday March 10th, 2026

We have an important update on everyone’s favorite undercover operative… Agent Harley.

After successfully completing the first phase of his Good Boy Training Program, Harley was sent out into the field for Mission Two: Public Relations & Home Improvement Assistance.

His first stop? A local pet store. Sources report that Harley handled the mission like a true professional. He bravely investigated the mysterious creatures known as fish and observed them with great curiosity. Even more impressive, he encountered cats during the operation — and remained calm, cool, and collected. No drama. Just professionalism.

But the mission didn’t stop there.

Agent Harley was then deployed to Home Depot for a highly specialized assignment: Stone Selection Specialist. Witnesses say Harley carefully inspected the options and provided moral support while stones were chosen. While he did not physically carry the stones (union rules), his presence was considered extremely helpful.

Field reports confirm:
✔ Excellent behavior in public
✔ Friendly and confident in new environments
✔ Unbothered by fish and cats
✔ Very helpful during home improvement missions

Training officials say Harley continues to impress everyone he meets and is progressing rapidly through the program.

His final mission is now approaching: finding a foster or forever home where he can put all his new skills to work — including professional cuddling, loyalty, and being an all-around great companion.

Agent Harley is ready.

Will you be the one to accept the assignment?

BREAKING NEWS: Local Good Boy on a Top-Secret Mission -- Tuesday March 3rd, 2026

There’s a new agent in town… and his name is Harley.

This handsome black lab mix has officially entered training mode for a very important undercover assignment: becoming the Best Boy Ever (although sources confirm he was already pretty great to begin with).

Harley is currently enrolled in an elite program where he’s mastering impressive skills like:

  • Perfecting his manners

  • Learning new commands

  • Practicing focus and confidence

  • Strengthening his “good boy” credentials

Reports from his trainers say he’s catching on incredibly fast. In fact, insiders describe him as “eager,” “smart,” and “very proud of himself” when he gets it right (which is often).

While his mission remains classified, we can confirm this: Harley is preparing for his biggest assignment yet — finding a foster or forever home.

He’s ready to trade in training sessions for couch cuddles, backyard zoomies, and a family to call his own. With his quick learning skills and sweet personality, he’s expected to excel in a loving home environment.

If you’re ready to assist Agent Harley in completing his mission, now is the time. Foster or adopt and become part of this heartwarming operation.

The Big Snip: BBQ Bash - Thank You -- Tuesday February 24th, 2026

We truly cannot put into words how overwhelming the support was for this project! The love shown to us — and to the dogs — at our BBQ dinner sale meant more than we can say. We honestly weren’t quite prepared for the incredible turnout… but we’ll definitely be ready next year!

A huge THANK YOU to Derrick with Dukes for the delicious BBQ, Sheron with Zaxby’s, and Cynthia with Walmart for helping provide much-needed supplies. And to all of our amazing bakers and prep crew — what an awesome team!

There are days in rescue that feel incredibly hard… and then there are days that remind you that you’re not alone — that there is an ARMY standing behind you. Yesterday was one of those days.

Because of YOU, we raised $1,260, and every dollar will go directly to our Spay/Neuter Project.

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for believing in this mission.

Afternoon with Paw Pups: Levi -- Thursday February 19th, 2026

Levi stole hearts during a special visit to the Calhoun Library, where children gathered for a Valentine’s-themed activity celebrating adoptable dogs. From the moment he arrived, Levi happily melted into the kids’ arms, soaking up hugs and attention as if he’d known them forever.

Throughout the event, Levi calmly walked around the room, offering gentle companionship while the children colored their Paw Angels Valentine’s Day cards—each one featuring dogs currently available for adoption through Paw Angels Rescue. Levi proved to be the perfect helper, patiently sitting with the kids, posing for photos, and encouraging plenty of smiles and laughter.

Adding to the excitement, Miss Flint River stopped by to meet Levi, making the day even more memorable for everyone involved. Levi remained calm and kind throughout the visit, clearly enjoying every moment—especially the extra treats that came his way.

By the end of the event, it was clear Levi had made a lasting impression, turning a simple coloring activity into a heartwarming afternoon filled with compassion, community, and puppy love.

Community Assistance Program (C.A.P) -- Monday January 26th, 2026

In 2025, we have continued to track the distribution of supplies throughout the community. These supplies have supported families during difficult times, provided nourishment & proper shelter for dogs, and helped families keep their pets in their homes. Without this program, many families would struggle to provide proper care for their dogs. This program is extremely important to Gordon County, as without it, many more dogs would be at risk.

Spay - 44

Neuter - 17

Adult Dog Food - 178 Bags

Puppy Food - 31 Bags

Pup Date: Walker & Catoosa (Cat) -- Tuesday January 20th, 2026

Walker and Catoosa came to us from Tunnel Hill as two very shut-down dogs, survivors of a heartbreaking animal cruelty case involving 32 dogs. When they first arrived, both were facing significant health challenges, but thanks to time, care, and patience, they have overcome so much and are now healthy and safe.

Catoosa (Cat) does have ongoing medical needs due to the long-term neglect she endured. She is battling severe heartworms, has no teeth, and struggles with a skin condition. Despite all of this, Cat is incredibly loving. She adores her toys, cozy bedding, and especially her sweaters that help keep her warm. She enjoys gently trotting around the yard and never turns down a treat. While she’s still a bit shy with new people, her confidence grows more every day.

Walker has truly amazed us. At first, we couldn’t even make eye contact with him, and he wouldn’t stand near us at all. Today, he has two dog friends he plays with every day, goes on walks (still a little scary for him, but he’s gaining confidence), and happily plays with toys—something he once avoided completely. He now enjoys interacting with people too and has shown us just how silly, funny, and joyful he really is.

Their journeys are a powerful reminder of what love, patience, and compassion can do.

Welcome Phoenix! -- Tuesday January 13th, 2026

Welcome to the Paw Angels Family, Phoenix!

This brave little girl came to us fighting for her life. Phoenix was dangerously close to becoming septic after suffering a severe gash from a dog attack that went untreated for days. The property she was on had multiple dogs kept and fed outside with no containment or separation. Fights over food began to occur, and Phoenix—already injured from a previous incident—took the worst of it.

We later learned she was injured on New Year’s Day. A plea for help was posted that Friday, and we immediately responded. Sadly, her owner at the time refused to take her to the vet, even with our offer of financial assistance. It wasn’t until days later that a neighbor stepped in and got her to a vet. By then, Phoenix was severely anemic, battling a serious infection, and on the verge of sepsis. She went six long days without veterinary care—much of what she endured could have been prevented with earlier treatment.

We knew Phoenix could not return to that property, where she would have been kept outside and placed back into the same dangerous situation. Thankfully, her owner agreed to surrender her, and as of yesterday, Phoenix is officially a Paw Angels girl

The photos show her journey: how she looked when first injured, the condition of her wound when it was finally cleaned by the vet, and the progress she has made as of yesterday. She still has a long road to recovery ahead. While it’s not yet certain if her leg can be saved, things are moving in the right direction, and we remain hopeful.

This sweet girl needs your prayers.

Due to Phoenix’s sudden intake, along with another foster dog returning to our care, we are in desperate need of FOSTERS to help us make space.

We also need donations to help cover Phoenix’s veterinary care. Her initial treatment was $700, and due to the severity of her wounds and pain, she required hospitalization for several days at $100 per day. While surgery will come later, her current vet bill is expected to be around $1,100 when we pick her up today.

Thank you for standing with Phoenix and helping us give her the safe, loving future she deserves

Thank you Camdyn & Beckett! -- Tuesday January 6th, 2026

Camdyn and Beckett came down to spend some quality time with our sweet pups! They enjoyed walkies, playtime in the yards, and plenty of one-on-one love. Our dogs soaked up every extra pet and attention—tails wagging nonstop!

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, confidence is growing, tails are wagging, and second chances are happening every day. If you’ve ever wanted to lend a paw, join the pack—because at Paw Angels Inc., it’s always a great day to do some good and fetch a little happiness along the way.

Paw-tastic Adoption News: Ginger -- Saturday January 3rd, 2026

We are thrilled to share that Ginger has been adopted! After three years in rescue, Ginger has finally found her perfect forever home. She was just six months old when Paw Angels welcomed her into our care, and during her time with us, she truly stole hearts everywhere she went. From being featured in Calhoun Magazine to becoming a fan favorite at the Gordon County Library, Ginger made a lasting impression on so many. We couldn’t be happier for her as she begins this wonderful new chapter surrounded by love.

Paws & Relax: Ozzy -- Friday January 2nd, 2026

Ozzy is doing wonderfully with his foster fur-ends and settling in beautifully. He loves spending time playing in the yard, burning off energy, and enjoying the fresh air. Ozzy has been staying clean, making no messes, and showing what a great listener he is. He absolutely adores extra snuggles and cuddle time, and his playful side shines when he’s surrounded by toys—especially when he gets to share them with his fur-ends. Ozzy has truly been an excellent house guest and a joy to have around.

New Program: Off The Chain -- Tuesday December 16th, 2025

A new community-driven program called Off the Chain has officially launched with a mission to improve the lives of dogs currently living on tie-outs by building small, safe, fenced-in yards that allow them freedom of movement, safety, and dignity.

Across the area, many dogs spend their lives tethered outdoors with limited shelter and mobility. While these dogs often have caring owners, a lack of resources can make it difficult to provide proper fencing. For some dogs, this will create some comfort until a new permanent home is found. Off the Chain was created to bridge that gap by offering hands-on assistance and materials to build secure enclosures where dogs can move freely, exercise, and rest safely for the time being.

The program is currently collecting donations of materials and supplies including:

  • Fence Panels
  • T-posts
  • Gates
  • Dog Houses
  • Shade Tarps
  • Tools and Hardware
  • Monetary Donations

All donated items will go directly towards building fenced areas for dogs who urgently need relief from constant tethering.

Our goal is simple, we want to give dogs the freedom they deserve while working alongside owners to create safer, more humane conditions or to give the dogs comfort until a new home is found.

Community members are encouraged to support the effort through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word. Every contribution - whether large or small - helps move one more dog off the chain and into a safer space.

Those interested in donating materials, funds, or time are encouraged to reach out to the Off the Chain program for more information.

Together, the community can make a lasting difference - one yard, one dog, and one family at a time.

Fall Family Fun Day -- Sunday November 16th, 2025

Paw Angels Rescue is celebrating a major milestone this week after officially reaching its $5,000 fundraising goal through its week-long Donation Marathon. The rescue organization extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, shared support, and took part in the effort.

Throughout the marathon, Paw Angels Rescue hosted fun raffles and shared engaging videos on its Facebook page to help raise money for its Community Help Program, which provides food and essential care to dogs in need.

The marathon wrapped up with a lively Fall Family Fun Day, bringing the community together for one final push. The event featured food and refreshments, dance performances from local dance schools, and a bustling lineup of vendors for families to shop from. Organizers say the turnout exceeded expectations and helped carry them across the finish line.

“It was a fun day, and we can’t thank everyone enough for all their support,” the rescue team shared. Thanks to the community’s generosity, Paw Angels Rescue will continue providing critical assistance to dogs who need it most.

A Special Birthday Paw-ty: Lucy -- Tuesday November 11th, 2025

Paw Angels Rescue wouldn’t exist without one very special dog — Lucy. Eleven years ago, Lucy was facing euthanasia because she was terrified of people and deemed “unadoptable.” But everything changed when she met her forever mom, who saw past the fear and showed her what real love could do. That love not only saved Lucy’s life — it inspired the founding of Paw Angels, a rescue dedicated to helping dogs just like her find safety, healing, and family.

Today, Lucy is celebrating her 11th birthday surrounded by love. She’s known as the sweetest soul — gentle, affectionate, and friendly with everyone she meets. She adores her little brother, Bo, and her Nana, who stops by daily (always with treats, of course). In her younger years, Lucy loved hanging out in the dance studio with her mom, greeting students and soaking up attention. Now, she spends her golden years curled up on the couch, watching the volunteers she inspired continue her legacy of compassion.

Lucy’s journey from fear to love reminds everyone at Paw Angels why they do what they do — because every dog deserves the chance to become someone’s angel.

Pup Date: Ozzy -- Wednesday November 5th, 2025

Ozzy has been absolutely shining during his stay at the kennel! This happy-go-lucky pup has stolen everyone’s hearts with his playful energy and lovable personality. He’s a social butterfly who enjoys playdates with other dogs, adores his toys, and listens like a pro — he already knows his basic commands and loves to show off his good manners.

Ozzy is also famous around here for his “butt scratch dance” — give him a good scratch, and he’ll reward you with an adorable little twerk! When he’s not dancing, he’s cuddled up close, soaking in all the love he can get.

During his recent weekend foster stay, Ozzy was the perfect guest — sweet, gentle, and full of love. He is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms, but don’t worry — we’ll continue to provide his heartworm care while he’s in foster or even after he’s adopted.

Ozzy is the total package: smart, affectionate, playful, and full of heart. Whoever brings this boy home is in for a lifetime of laughter, love, and happy tail wags!
